J Says (Pt. 3)

"Get up, you worthless piece of existence!" Awaking sheepishly from his slumber and obviously startled to the point of scrambling to his feet, the man begins to frantically turn around, managing to accomplish a complete 360. As he uncontrollably rubs the resulting residue of his night's slumber from his still weary eyes, the voice calls yet again. "Get it together. We've got to get going." Utterly confused because the man was sure that when he laid his head to rest on the sheet of dust beneath him, he was all alone in the world, just him and his own conscious thoughts that plagued him so. "A-a-a-alright, just let me grab my pack," he hesitantly responded to whoever was out there amidst the abyss. The rustling of leaves tickling his eardrums, he began to witness a figure bobbing closer and closer toward him. Fortunately, for the poor man’s sanity sake, he recognized the mysterious one who had startled him so, just moments prior. “I thought you guys had abandoned me for good?” the man questioned intently. “I just knew that I was going to rot here in this wilderness all alone. Where are the others?” Now the two men, once so close as a part of the same adventurous foresting team, meet face to face yet again, this time under a menacing set of different and slightly awkward circumstances. His afore mentioned confidant managed to gather himself first, in attempt to ease the escalating tension. “Uh, yeah. The rest of the fellas are up ahead, just past the creek. We expected you to find us, not the other way around.” Scratching his brow in confusion and noticeably peering down towards his feet, he began to wonder to himself. “Could I have been so exhausted, so starved, so in need of water, that I had it backwards all along? Did I, in fact, leave the group myself?” Nonetheless the weary traveler regained his composure and with the comfort of his reunited mate returning, he perched an estranged and foreign smile to his lips. “I’ve been so out of my mind these past couple days that I don’t even remember what happened anymore. I’m just glad to see that I haven’t completely lost you guys. Let me grab my bag, and we can go find the others.” As he bent downward and feebly grasped his pack with both quivering hands, an eerie wind came gently grazing across his body. Immediately frozen with an untimely sense of foreignness, the backpack released itself from his grip, falling to the dirt below. He sheepishly turned himself around, to see no one. Had his friend taken initiative and in haste, left without him? His mind seemed to be forming stronger and more off the wall opinions of its own as the journeyed labored on. He began to question his sanity, along with the sanctity of his own life. A dream perhaps… Yes, could it all have been a dream? -JSawyer

Winfield Tweed New Era

Japanese based brand Winfield gives us a look at their latest fitteds just in time for those of us in the cold. Utilizing their token W New Era, they switch it up by using thick tweed material. It’s available in three different colorways and you can check out more courtesy of mashKULTURE.

A decent fitted is hard to come by these days, in my opinion. The tweed models from Winfield are pretty dope though. I give them a 4.5 out of 5 stars. -JS

Chris Brown Debuts "Crawl"

Since R&B prince, Chris Brown's assault on famed, pop mistress Rihanna, his music has taken a back seat to his personal life, making sure he gets himself back together. Amidst doing interview after interview, Brown has been logging some serious time, completing his court ordered community service hours.

As of today, his music, at least in video form, is back for all the world to see. Other than his collaborative efforts with Young Money on their track "Transformers,"  the singer/dancer has not debuted a video in quite sometime. Brown's single "Crawl" isn't just any release, however. The track is his first attempt at a ballad, and there really is no denying that the singing sensation's relationship with Rihanna played no part in the lyrical tone of the arrangement.

"So we'll crawl, until we can walk again," Brown sings on the hook. "Then we'll run, until we're strong enough to jump. Then we'll fly, until there is no wind. So let's crawl, crawl, crawl, back to love."

Of course, the heartbroken swooner denies all allegations that "Crawl" is referring to his ex, Rihanna. He says it is more a reference to moving beyond heartache in general.

"When I heard the whole concept and everything I was like, 'Yo, this is crazy,' " Brown said about the track. "So being able to express the feelings, it was like, probably one of the best [records I've done.] But it was more than me trying to do a record that meant crawl to love, crawl back to love. Meaning whether it's from your negative situations, whether it's from any problems you've dealt with, like anybody's situation. Mine being my personal situation with shorty, but for anybody, for being inspired as far it being the war or a death in the family, whether it's anything, anybody just crawl back to love. 'Cause love conquers everything. Love, at the end of the day, makes everybody happy."

I guess the lyrics could just be chalked up to coincidence or a bad timing of events, but nonetheless, Chris Brown is back, and I do predict the single will jump up the charts.

Check out the video, as it was debuted today on the Wendy Williams Show. -JS

Wade Posterizes Varejao with "Dunk of the Year"

Only a handful of games into the NBA season, D Wade has already been dubbed with the "dunk of the year." And rightly so. What looked like, in my opinion, a routine drive to the bucket for the Heat star, turned into a posterization of Cav's forward Anderson Varejao. Poor guy. He'll be reliving this sequence in his nightmares for years to come. Take a look! -JS

*Feature* Mors Footwear

While surfing the web some time ago, I ran across a feature on someone's blog on a footwear brand that I had never heard of before. The brand was new and refreshing, with a captivatingly unique look. I definitely liked what I saw and was for sure intrigued. That brand is Mors Footwear. I decided to take a shot and connect with Jonathan from Mors, in hopes of getting a response with permission to do a feature myself on his dope brand. I am a firm believer and supporter in all things dope, no matter what it may be. Shoes, other types of fashion, music, art, writing, design, anything that showcases ones creative talents. I like to take it a step further and promote such things as I come across them, so here you go people. Open your eyes to the wonderful world of Mors Footwear. And again, I'd like to thank Jonathan Morss of Mors for this opportunity to showcase his excitingly new brand. -JS

J Says (Wk. 2)

The once figurative crossroads that plagued the poor soul so intensely, was now more of a literal predicament. Trudging through the brush and debris of the forest, his boots as cinder blocks being drug by his quivering legs, he lifelessly stumbles into an eerily open corridor. At the point of the halt, he shrugs the clinging backpack from his shoulders as to be freed from all his burden. Falling to his knees, the man's head seems to be on a swivel. Taking in all of the new, possible directions. Which way shall he tred? Which path will lead him to the next check point along his journey? Which way will take him home? The abundance of possibilities only proved as more anxiety for the man. His thoughts, looming around in his head like fish amongst bread, immediately reverted back to his fleeing comrades. The decision makers they were, so heady and full of confidence, just the opposite of him. Yet he has no choice. All responsibility lay on his beaten and bruised shoulders. He may as well throw them in his overflowing backpack, which itself seems to be taking its toll on him step by step. He began to float off, deeper and deeper in thought, just as if his mind were spiraling down a dark and bottomless well. One bird, two bird, three birds looming awkwardly overhead, but as if they hold an untold message for the fellow. Just as he peers up to take in what the birds have to offer, he notices the day beginning to break right before him. Should he choose to pull his beaten body and spirit together, continue on before nightfall and possible play victim to the ferocity of the unknown or is it better he stay put, rest on his looming decision, and leave out first thing in the morning? As he braces his body for lifting with his right hand gingerly planted onto the dirt, he begins to quiver. Gasping for breath, his stomach starts to shake as if blending an abundance of materials. With little warning, vomit begins spewing from his lips, acting as if his entire body were volcanically erupting without his consent. Uncontrollably projecting heave after heave, the man slumps over to his side, glares upward, and notices now even the buzzards have abandoned him as well... -JS

Lancier - Dita Eyewear Collection

This is the first that I've seen from Dita Eyewear, and I must say that I like what they're doing. This collection was incorporated to be lightweight but also retain a bit of strength.

Lancier by Dita Eyewear™ is born of that truth, engineered to fulfill that requirement. Lancier lenses are of the highest optical quality, offered with and without polarization. Lancier frames are meticulously handcrafted by our master craftsmen in Japan from lightweight materials including titanium, zyl acetate and co-injected rubber. In addition, the frames feature our patented Temple Release™ technology. The result is eyewear as strong, adaptable and driven to perform as the individuals who choose to wear it.

The Lancier features three different models, with only 450 pieces being released all together. I give this creation by Dita a 4 out of 5 stars. -JS

*Feature* "Where Are They Now?" - UNC Edition

For most, the transition from the collegiate level to mixing it up with the greatest athletes in the world, can be quite the daunting task. What can make it even more difficult is moving from a reign of utter dominance at the collegiate level to the National Basketball Association, where most of its athletes are "freaks of nature." The 2009 National Champion, North Carolina Tar Heels had one of the most impressive seasons in recent memory. From top to bottom, the team was basically chalk full of talented individuals, none more so than the trio of Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, and Wayne Ellington. That, mixed in with sixth man of the year Danny Green, the Heels had themselves several, sure first rounders for the draft. Hansbrough, being the first of the bunch to be scooped up at number 13 by the Indiana Pacers, he was succeeded by Lawson going number 18 to Minnesota, as well Ellington going number 28 to the Timberwolves of Minnesota. Danny Green was chosen in the second round by the Lebron's Cleveland Cavaliers. Shortly after being drafted, Ty Lawson was caught in a deal that sent him to Denver to play with Melo and company. Now maybe it's because I am an arrogant Carolina fan who ultimately bleeds Carolina blue, but I truly feel that all of these guys will have decent careers in the league.

Lawson's speed has allowed him to be the first to shoot out of the gates, looking quite impressive. He seems to be intricately involved in George Carl's game plan over in Denver.

Hansbrough has been sidelined with injury throughout the preseason, so we really haven't been able to see what kind of numbers he'll put up amidst the taller, more athletic big men of the league. He is expected back rather soon, however.

The smooth stroking Wayne Ellington has seen some decent action with the Wolves already, and as long as he continues to work on his ball handling and attacking ability, he should catch some additional burn for the struggling franchise.

Lastly, Green, who I think is the most athletic and versatile of the bunch, has not been able to get on the court much in Cleveland. He has great, raw talent that must be honed before he is out on the floor with Lebron, Shaq, and the gang.

There is your quick glimpse at the former Tar Heels of North Carolina who are already enjoying their rookie seasons in the NBA. -JS
